Welcome September -The Wood Rooster Is Calling You – a Karmic Turning Point

Hello my friends, Marlyna here.

Breathe deeply. Open your mind and heart. Welcome Change. Trust the process.
It’s September 2025 — the month of Virgo and Wood Rooster in the Year of the Wood Snake.

This Wood Rooster month begins with a total Lunar Eclipse on September 7th. This isn’t just another full moon; it’s a karmic turning point — when the universe whispers “it’s time to evolve” – a call to release outdated patterns, outdated versions of ourselves, and step into new ways of living, and creating – a more authentic way of being. While this time may feel intense, unsettling or challenging, I want to remind you that this discomfort is for growth. When we look at this through different lenses we can see it’s an invitation to expand our comfort zones, to open our hearts, and to let go of what holds us back. Spiritual growth is not a destination but a continual unfolding and astrology simply points the way.

The Wood Rooster does not bring subtle energy. It pushes, critiques, directs, and demands change. If you’ve been feeling restless, anxious, or sensing a major shift, you’re probably not imagining it – this is one of those moments in life you’ll look back on and say, “That’s when everything began to shift.”

Psychologically, this is a month where your inner critic may get louder. Virgo season highlights where we feel “not enough.” Rooster metal energy adds pressure to fix, perfect, or control. Instead of letting this turn into anxiety or self-sabotage, see it as a mirror. Where can you soften, forgive yourself, and redirect that critical energy into constructive growth?

One of the teachings I return to often is: “Life happens for you, not to you.”  Every challenge, every trigger, every unexpected turn is shaping you into who you are becoming. The question is — can you stay open-hearted through it? Can you live from connection instead of fear, from truth instead of defense? Can you embody the change you long to see in the world?

The universe is always speaking to us. This month, more than ever, pay attention to your dreams, visions, signs, and gut feelings. Autumn is here, winter is approaching — a natural time to pause, reflect, and reassess. What has worked for you this year? What hasn’t? What actions can you take in the next 18 months to two years to make a positive difference in your life — and in the lives of others?

I Ching Hexagram image #33

The Wood Snake year continues to call us toward integrity.  Align your words and actions. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Astrologically, the Wood Rooster is known as a “broken pillar” — Metal cutting Wood suggests volatility. Globally, things may not go as planned, emotions may run high, and betrayals or disappointments may surface. The associated hexagram,  #33, Retreat — the wisdom here is to avoid unnecessary conflicts, retreat when needed: as the I Ching’s hexagram reminds us that sometimes stepping back is strategy:  wisdom not weakness.

How this month affects you will depend on your BaZi chart — meaning the interactions between the elements and animal signs of your natal chart. (Get your free chart here).  However, here are some general notes of how it may show up:

  • Rooster: Watch the tendency to for self-sabotage and avoid over-analyzing or over-indulging. Choose discernment over drama with people and choices.
  • Dog: A tense relationship with Rooster energy. Proceed with caution, and don’t take things at face value.
  • Snake, Ox, Dragon: the energy favours you – Opportunities flow more easily. momentum builds when you Ask for help, and take action. Expect rewards for your efforts.
  • Rat: Trust issues surface and may be magnified. Stay true to yourself and your values. Keep things simple.  Best to observe and lay low this month and avoid excess.
  • Rabbit: You are in direct clash with Rooster. Clashes are opportunities for change. — Meet it consciously and proactively instead of resistance.

For the other animals, shifts are gentler – no drama  — your time will come.

Collectively, this month is not about isolation. It’s about reaching out — giving and receiving support. Psychology and spiritual traditions agree, healing accelerates in connection. When you give, you receive.

The more willingly you release what no longer serves, the lighter and clearer you will feel and the easier this journey becomes.
So, breathe deeply. Welcome change. Trust the process.    And remember courage isn’t the absence of fear — it’s moving forward with an open heart, even when fear is present.

Love & Light,

Marlyna
