Welcome October -The Darkness and Light of the Fire Dog Month

Hello dear students, clients and friends,

On October 8th, we transition into the month of the Fire Dog (Bing Xu) within this Year of the Wood Snake—a month that offers us a choice between Destruction or Innovation.

The Dog carries many meanings in Chinese Astrology. One is that of a soldier—loyal yet fierce, guarding the gate between the seen and unseen. Within the Dog resides Wu Earth, Ding Fire, and Xin Metal — symbolizing a battlefield where emotion and aggression wrestle for balance. Another image is that of a mountain rumbling with fire, with untapped minerals waiting to be revealed. The ground beneath us is alive and stirring.

As we move into the final month of the Metal season, our endurance is being tested. This is a time of decline and letting go, when old forms naturally fall away or break down to make space for renewal. Collectively, we witness this through global unrest, personal tension, and magnified emotions. Yet beneath the turbulence lies the opportunity for growth and resilience—an invitation to respond with awareness rather than reaction.

According to the I Ching, the hexagram associated with this month is #52 – Mountain (Keeping Still). Two mountains stacked together symbolize stillness, stability, and the challenge of non-reaction. The message is clear:
Avoid unnecessary decision-making. Strengthen your will. Practice patience and self-discipline. Advancement will come later—this is a time to pause, reflect, and cultivate inner peace.

So, what can we do? Focus on raising your vibration through contemplation, meditation, and alignment with your core values. Ask yourself:

  • What needs to end, heal, or transform so that I can embody my higher self?
  • What truly matters to me?
  • Am I living in integrity with my values?

With four months left in the Wood Snake year, and this Dog–Dragon clash brings powerful opportunities for release and rebirth. Transformation is rarely comfortable, but it is always purposeful.

Be open. Be curious. Take responsibility for your energy and your evolution. Let this Fire Dog month guide you toward clarity, insight, and empowered awareness.

May October be a month of illumination, transformation, and inner strength, leading you gently toward the light of your own becoming.

With warmth and wisdom,

Marlyna
