Not all energy is equal, and not everything can be adjusted after the fact. Until then, I had assumed Feng Shui was primarily about interior design. However, after visiting countless cities and sites, I came to understand a fundamental principle:

Just as a gardener studies the soil and climate before selecting the right plants, Feng Shui practitioners assess the natural energy of a site before determining how to enhance or balance it. The environment shapes everything—from the vitality of the land to the well-being of those who live or work there.

You’ve likely experienced this yourself. Living by the water feels different from living high on a mountain. The energy of a basement is distinct from that of a high-rise. North-facing light carries a different energy than light from the east or west. It’s not about good or bad—it’s about understanding these differences and making informed choices.

The energy requirements of a retail store differ from those of a temple or a home designed for a growing family. By recognizing these nuances, we can ensure success by aligning purpose, place, and timing to create spaces that thrive.
