Understanding Your Fears

What's holding you back from facing your fears?

In order to understand where we live connects to our fears, we must first understand where fear comes from: our brain.

Did you know that 95 percent of our brain’s activity takes place at the unconscious or subconscious level?  From conception through age of six or seven, we begin forming what are called “neural pathways.”  These are like highways for the thoughts and feelings we have, and they travel through our brain without us noticing.   If you experienced a great deal of anxiety or instability as a child, the subconscious connections your brain formed thenlikely to continue influencing you now.

Feng Shui wisdom tells us that we are connected to seven generations of our ancestors, not just through DNA that is passed down to us, but through unconscious patterns and pathways too.  Transgenerational trauma is what causes the great-great-grandchildren of ancestors who lived in war, to feel what seems like unexplainable anxiety or fear.  Just as we can inherit a family member’s blue eyes or dimpled smile, we can inherit their unconscious fears, traumas and beliefs of scarcity and lack.

All thoughts have a vibration.  So, if you’ve inherited patterns of fear or scarcity, your space will reflect this.  The law of attraction states that “like attracts like.” This means that people with a low frequency — those who are insecure and self-abandoning — attract each other, while people with a higher frequency — those who love and value themselves — also attract each other. That’s what makes turning fear and anxiety somewhat challenging, because it’s our subconscious beliefs shaped by the past that are usually choosing where and how we to live. We tend to recreate what is familiar.  But how can you choose peace if you haven’t experienced it before or don’t even know what that feels like?

That’s why I love Feng Shui! When you know what good energy looks and feels like, and when you have a formula that has been tested over centuries, you can use that a tool to guide you to change the energy around you.

Lessons of inner work

If you follow me, you know that I’ve moved 15 times in 25 years. It’s part of my destiny to be on the move.  My astrological chart has two very active travel stars, plus other indications that show a life of change and movement.

At some point in my personal growth and Feng Shui journey, I asked myself  Why is this happening?  Why did I choose this chart and these patterns?  What is the lesson?  I noticed that as I studied the homes I lived in, that the homes had similar energy, facing the same compass direction and hexagrams.   Each house was an improvement energetically, but they all pointed to the same direction.  While each home had different layouts, floorplans and a different physical environment, they all held a similar frequency.  I realized there were thingsI needed to face in my life.  To shift something within myself.

It dawned on me that these homes were somehow connected to me through a lesson or better opportunity, and until I embodied the opportunity of that space to grow, I would be unable to move to a new home or in a new direction. Everything is connected.

When you see the world as a field of energy with shared connections and vibrations, you begin to see messages everywhere. When you see these messages as teachers or lessons that are happening for us, and not to us, they become opportunities.

By understanding that my homes are simply a reflection, I can look for the changes I need to make and use Feng Shui as a tool to move forward in a conscious, positive, supportive direction.

It’s important to remember that change is uncomfortable but necessary. We’re wired to choose what’s familiar. By understanding the energies of your space and working with the formulas and directions of Feng Shui, we can trust the discomfort is part of the process.  Then, we can really unlock the full potential of Feng Shui.

If you are struggling to find out what kind of home to look for, I suggest studying Feng Shui. I have a new course starting this fall, alternatively get a consultation.

Embracing Change

There is always something we can do, no matter what direction your home faces. To help you today, and supplement your self-change and inner work journey, let’s focus on one of the most basic, yet deeply important aspects of practical Feng Shui for your home: the front door.

Your front door is your antenna to the universe that says “pick me”. Think of it as a satellite dish that is broadcasting a frequency to the universe. The front door is the gateway for the energy that flows into your home from the natural world. Depending on the view from your front door, whether it’s a bustling city or quiet lakefront, your home’s energy can be drastically affected.

Just as you need to consider the energy you are inviting into your home through the front door, you need to consider the energy you are letting out. Does your home’s entrance exude good fortune and inspiration? Warmth and love? If you are trying to manifest financial or business success, or promote a healthy, lovely relationship, then you need to reflect these goals right from the start, in the entrance of your home.

The entrance of your home needs a clear, unobstructed, well-lit pathway to your door, just as your goals do. The prominence, recognizability, and openness of the outside entrance of your home directly correlates to the good fortune, empowerment, and success of the home’s inhabitants. This outside space provides room for positive energy to collect, instead of getting lost as it tries to enter your home.

As all of the energy that has collected outside comes inside, it will begin to flow throughout your home, but it needs to know where to go. If it is obstructed by too much clutter, furniture that is difficult to maneuver around, or a confusing layout, then the energy will become stuck. The inside entrance, as well as the main hall or space that leads to the other rooms of your home, should feel pleasant, open, and very airy.

The more intentional we are with our spaces, the more we become intentional with our lives.

Love, light and blessings,
Marlyna
